Scott Michaels of LA\u2019s iconic Dearly Departed Tours is a positive person: \u201cFamous people die every day,\u201d he grins. It\u2019s with that deadly enthusiasm that he now brings to \u201cDearly Departed Tours\u201d online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founder of LA\u2019s iconic Dearly Departed Tours and Artifact Museum, Michaels said his new You Tube channel allows him to share his lurid knowledge in short video \u201ctours,\u201d now sometimes venturing outside the confines of Los Angeles proper. \u201cI do the same thing we did in a van, but I do it virtually and across the U.S.,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michaels began his tourism undertaking after a stint as manager of the original (now deceased) Grave Line Tours. He went on to open Dearly Departed Tours and Museum in Hollywood, a fixture for two decades, But in 2021, it closed, along with many tourism attractions hit by the pandemic. But \u201cDearly Departed Tours online has risen in its place,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his You Tube channel, the well-respected Hollywood historian leads viewers on a kaleidoscope of macabre, Hollywood history, \u201ctragical artifacts\u201d and actual visits where crimes and deaths occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academy Award-winning director Quentin Tarantino called upon Michaels to lead he and his crew to sites and provide information \u2013 both well-known and obscure \u2013 associated with the Manson murders as part of pre-production of \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood.\u201d In the film\u2019s credits, Tarantino accorded special thanks to Michaels for his consulting work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paranormal investigator Zak Bagans of \u201cGhost Adventures\u201d invited Michaels to join him on an hourlong broadcast investigation delving deep into the notorious Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. He has also starred and created the documentary \u201cThe Six Degrees of Helter Skelter,\u201d \u201cDearly Departed\u201d volumes 1 and 2, and \u201cHollywood Death Trip.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
